| · | Product Application | Tell us what kind of equipment the transformer will be used in, and what the expected quantity will be, so that we can optimize the design. |
| · | Input Specification | Fill in the input voltages for primary windings. |
| · | Electrostatic Shield | Please inform us if an electrostatic shield is needed between primary and secondary windings. |
| · | Output Specification | Please specify AC RMS voltages and currents for all secondary windings, or alternatively, the requested DC data together with the type of rectifier used and capacitor value. |
| · | Duty Cycle | A smaller and lower cost transformer can be used when the load is intermittent and the duty cycle is shorter than the thermal time constant of the transformer (3-5 hours). Please specify "on"-time versus "off"-time for each secondary winding. |
| · | Regulation (Reg.) | By using larger diameter wire or a larger core, the voltage drop between no load and full load can be reduced, resulting in improved regulation and higher efficiency. |
| · | Line Frequency | Specify the lowest operating line frequency. Note that size and cost of the transformer increase with lower operating frequencies. A single primary 60 Hz transformer will always be smaller and cost less than a multiple primary 50 Hz transformer. The savings are often big enough to make it economical to use two different versions of the transformer, one for the domestic market and another for international markets. |
| · | Thermal Protection | If a thermal fuse is required, specify type (auto-resetable or non-resetable) and the cut-off temperature. |
| · | Ambient Temperature | Please specify the temperature the transformer will operate in. Normally our transformers are designed for maximum 35-40°C ambient temperatures. |
| · | Safety Approvals | Please inform us of what safety standards your equipment needs to comply with, so we can include necessary safety features in the transformer and attach proper markings. |
| · | Size Restrictions | Specify maximum available space for the transformer in your equipment, so we can determine if a standard or a custom designed one needs to be used. |
| · | Lead Length/Type | Standard terminations are 10" long self-leads, in which the enameled winding wire is extended and insulated with UL/CSA approved sleevings. On request, we can also supply the transformer with stranded, flexible lead wires and terminals. |
| · | Mounting | Select one of our standard mounting methods from our application note on Mounting, or specify your own. |
